World Harmonica Festival 2013 | Aftermovie

Das World Harmonica Festival 2013 war ein voller Erfolg. Fast 3000 Mundharmonikabegeisterte aus 32 Ländern trafen sich von 30. Oktober bis 03. November 2013 in Trossingen, um Musik zu machen und sich über ihre Instrumente auszutauschen.

Neben vielen angehenden Musikern, waren Top-Künstler wie Rick Estrin & The Nightcats, Keith Dunn, Rachelle Plas, Yasuo Watani, Tollak Ollestad, das Hong Kong Harmonica Association Orchestra, Joe Filisko & Eric Noden, Marcos Coll & Los Mighty Calacas, Cheuk Yin Ho , das Sirius Ensemble, Philip Achille,

Arinori Inagawa, Konstantin Reinfeld, Steve Baker, Ben Hewlett, Jens Bunge, Franco Luciani, Tom Stryker, George & Janalyn Miklas und das Orchester Hohnerklang aus Trossingen anwesend.

Wir waren dabei und haben neben einem Impressionsvideo und zwei zusammenfassenden Videos der Blues- und Jazzsessions zahlreiche Live-Videos der genannten Künstler gefilmt und geschnitten.

Steve Baker’s Blues Sessions at WHF2013, featuring The Nightcats

During the World Harmonica Festival 2013, Steve Baker’s „Late Night Blues Sessions“ in the Kesselhaus gave festival attendees the unique opportunity to step up on stage and play with Rick Estrin’s fantastic band The Nightcats, who did a wonderful job of making large numbers of harmonica players very happy indeed.

Tom Stryker’s „Jazz Sessions“ at WHF2013

In addition to the well established Blues Sessions, the World Harmonica Festival 2013 also presented Jazz Sessions for the very first time. The sessions have been presented and coordinated by former SPAH president Tom Stryker. It was a great success and many top artists like Philip Achille, Franco Luciani, Jens Bunge, Keith Bennett or the Miklas Family joined the stage.

Rick Estrin & The Nightcats live at WHF2013 – Callin all Fools

Rick Estrin & The Nightcats headlining the Blues Gala Concert at the World Harmonica Festival 2013, who again proved themselves as one of the finest blues acts in the world today. They delivered both terrific entertainment and great music, largely revolving around Estrin’s larger than life stage persona and the dry wit of his original compositions as well as stellar musicianship from the entire band.

Rachelle Plas live at WHF2013 – Fire Look

Rachelle Plas from Paris, France, kicking of the Blues Gala Concert at the World Harmonica Festival 2013 with her own brand of powerful contemporary Blues Rock. The song „Fire Look“ demonstrated how fresh and heavy Blues can be in the 21st century. Enjoy!

Keith Dunn live at WHF 2013 – Geronimo

Keith Dunn live at the World Harmonica Festival 2013 with songs from his program „Alone with the Blues“. With his mighty voice and sparsely authentic harp, Keith takes you on a journey to the very roots of blues music. The song „Geronimo“ is a tribute to one of the last big Apache leaders and refers to an experience Keith had at the place of an Indian massacre in Arizona.

Los Mighty Calacas live at WHF2013 – Ruletero

Marcos Coll and Los Mighty Calacas from Spain and Mexico with their irresistable mix of Latin Party Blues brought the Saturday Evening of the World Harmonica Festival 2013 to a fitting conclusion. The Dr. Ernst Hohner Concert Hall was at fever pitch with the audience on its feet and dancing a polonaise.

Yasuo Watani live at WHF2013 – „Invierno Porteño“ (Astor Piazzolla)

Chromatic harmonica master Yasuo Watani from Japan playing at the finale of the „World Harmonica Festival 2013“ in Trossingen. He earned standing ovations from the delighted audience for his sensitive renditions of four classical pieces, accompanied by his wife Mariko on grand piano. In the video he plays Astor Piazzolla’s „Invierno Porteño“.

Arinori Inagawa live at WHF 2013 – Oboe Quartet – Allegro (by W.A. Mozart)

Arinori Inagawa (Japan) live at the World Harmonica Festival 2013 in Trossingen, giving a moving redition of the Allegro of Mozart’s Oboe Quartet on his HOHNER Silver Concerto Chromatic Harmonica.

The Hong Kong Harmonica Association Orchestra live at the World Harmonica Festival 2013 in Trossingen. Conducted by Johnny Kuan they play „The River of Clouds“, a piece especially composed for this orchestra by K.C. Mui.

Harmonica legend Joe Filisko and Eric Noden live at the World Harmonica Festival 2013 in Trossingen. They played a short but gritty blues concert at the opening of the special „World Harmonica Festival“ exhibition of the German Harmonica and Accordion Museum. Enjoy!

Konstantin Reinfeld & Mr. Quilento – live at WHF 2013

Seventeen year old newcomer Konstantin Reinfeld (Germany) at the finale of the „World Harmonica Festival 2013“ in Trossingen. He opened up with a breathtaking show of original compositions from his eponymous new CD. His superb playing and unforced performance made clear that he is a force to be reckoned with on the contemporary jazz scene. Enjoy the song „Mr. Quilento“ from his new album.
